I am a lifelong horse enthusiast and the proud owner of a Thoroughbred mare, Whisper. I attended Westfield State College for Music Performance and English. A co-worker, commenting on my love of horses and quiet nature, suggested that I look into equine massage.
I attended and graduated from the 200-hour Equine Massage program at the Bancroft School of Massage in Worcester, MA. The course included:
- Equine Anatomy and Introduction to Pathologies
- Behavior, Handling, and Safety
- Health / Bio-Security
- Animal First Aid and Bandaging
- Massage Techniques
- Introduction to Biomechanics and Gait Analysis
- Saddle Fit and Rider Issues
- Myofascial Techniques
- Stretching Techniques
- Hydrotherapy
- Business Practices, Marketing, Skills and Ethics
- Internship
My love of both writing and horses has led me to combine the two in a career as a freelance writer. I write regularly for Massachusetts Horse and my blog for The Stable Woman Gazette may be viewed here. My work has also appeared in Dirt Road Daughters, Animal Life, and on Barnmice.com.
Whisper is a twelve year old Thoroughbred mare. She began life as a racehorse and raced until she was seven. After transferring ownership a few times, Whisper met me, and I purchased her two years after. Today Whisper lives in the Berkshires with three other horses and one miniature donkey.
